Every recommendation is earned through rigorous, real-world testing with real families.
The Parent Signal's testing methodology is designed around one principle: products perform differently in a lab than they do in a home with children. Our evaluations take place in actual homes, used by actual parents, with actual children doing what children actually do.
We distribute test products to a panel of parent testers representing diverse family structures, income levels, living situations, and child ages. Each product undergoes a minimum of four weeks of daily use before we publish results. We collect structured feedback on durability, usability, safety, and value.
For safety-critical categories (car seats, baby monitors, cribs), we supplement home testing with independent lab verification of manufacturer claims. We measure what can be measured and report the numbers.
All health, nutrition, and development articles are reviewed by our medical advisory board before publication. We require primary source citations for clinical claims, and we clearly distinguish between established guidelines (AAP, WHO) and emerging research. We do not make health claims the evidence does not support.
We purchase all test products at retail price. We do not accept free products, sponsored placements, or advertising arrangements that influence editorial content. Our revenue comes entirely from affiliate commissions — earned after our recommendations are made, never before.
We revisit and update reviews when significant new products enter the market, when safety recalls are issued, or when reader feedback identifies issues our initial testing missed. Updated articles carry a revision date and note what changed.
